About Cloud 9 Africa

Cloud9 Africa is an indigenous Non Governmental Organization, founded in 2008 with the aims of providing a comprehensive, efficient, holistic and purpose driven intervention aimed at answering the plight of marginalized women, orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Uganda and beyond.

Cloud9 Africa envisions a world where children are nurtured and loved, given the necessary support they need to live life to their full potential, rescuing them from extreme poverty, deprivation and where all women have the opportunity to actively contribute to their communities. The objectives of C9A include:

  • To raise awareness and act as an advocate for the plight of disadvantaged children and women in Uganda and beyond.
  • To enhance the capacity of families and communities in Uganda to respond to the OVC problem through intervention that reduces poverty, disease and ignorance so as to improve on the well fare of children.
  • To build orphanage/sanctuary for some of the young souls who have come upon hard times. This orphanage we plan to build will be a beautiful haven where they will receive not only food and shelter, but also an education and training to help them become productive members of society.
  • Liaise and or work with groups, organizations and individuals with similar objectives with the purpose of fulfilling the objectives of C9A.
  • To promote arrangements that aim at enhancing the capacity of disadvantaged children to exercise their talents through singing, sports or otherwise enabling them to live to their full potential.

About Tororo

Tororo is a town in eastern Uganda Established in 1926 when the colonial maps where drawn. It is the headquarters of Tororo district which is named after her. Its most prominent landmark is the looming Tororo Rock at the outskirts of the town. The town is predominated by the Japadhola's and Itesot ethnic groups. Tororo marks the junction of railway lines to Pakwach, via Soroti, to Nairobi via Eldoret and to Kasese via Kampala. The town is also an important road junction, with the Tororo-Mbale Road leading to the north of Uganda, the Tororo-Jinja Road leading to Central Uganda and the Tororo-Malaba road leading to Kisumu.

Tororo is also an educational centre and has secondary schools popular with Kenyan students such as St Peter's Collage Tororo (Tororo Collage), Tororo Girls School, Manjasi High School and Tororo Progressive School (TOPA).

Tororo is a mini industrial town and is extremely rich in minerals, with one of the highest phosphorus deposits in the world, according to a recent UN report on mineral depositions.

LMMC was started by Mr. John Kato from the famous Kato family former owners of the defunct International Credit Bank (ICB). He is also the Managing Director of Sharp Uganda Ltd.
